Last night, my mum told me about my cousin, Michelle.
She is just a Primary 3 kid. Her brother (the elder of the 2), Nelson, is in Primary 1. Yet, she seemed to be taking better care of her brother than her mum. Do you know why I say so?
Well, that is because my aunt always kind of do not bother with her kids' studies. Nelson is a daydream king. Yet she expect Nelson to be like Michelle to learn the Multiplication Table by himself with the chart in the room. She never checked their abacus homeworks which is why they would look for my mum or me to check for them.
Since Nelson started school, whenever Michelle saw Nelson untidy works like written homework or artwork, she would scold him. For the artwork, she would help do some adjustment for him. After being scolded by his sister, Nelson would become very quiet. LOL.
Oh ya. I forgot to say this. Nelson do not know how to buy things and get his changes back. But when he started school, whenever they reached early in school, Michelle would give him like $0.10 to buy food like fishball or button mushroom to eat as he does not have any money. After a few times, he learnt to buy for himself. So he was trained by Michelle again.
Last Friday, Nelson just remember that he got spelling on Monday. He totally forgot that he got lines to write. For each of the words for his spelling, he need to write the words on 2 lines each. Well, that is not unusual for him. He is always very blur. His mum who had been checking his bag also do not know he got lines to write and keep asking him to learn his spelling.
Guess what. On Monday, my mum asked him if he had completed his homework. He said he had and his mum had checked. While waiting for the school bus, Michelle said that she will check for him and found that piece of paper that Nelson had to write lines. It was blank. Michelle questioned him but he looked blur. My mum questioned him and after thinking, he nodded his head. Bus was coming and there are 10 words to write. Each need to write 2 lines and there was no table around.
Michelle adviced him to write those longer words first and he wrote with the wall as his table. Luckily that he was fast that day as usually he would take ages. But he wasn't fast enough. He only completed a page of the 2. My mum told him to try to do in school if they managed to reach early. There is no choice already. Guess what. Michelle made Nelson write in the bus too during traffic light junction when the bus stopped at red light. And when they reached school, Michelle made Nelson completed the whole thing and he managed to complete his work.
Michelle told my mum about it and also said that she always does that while waiting for the school bus in school and in the bus and thus, sometimes she doesn't seemed to have any homework when she come home.
I was telling my mum that without Michelle, Nelson would be 'dead' by now.
