On Sunday, didn't have training as it was on Saturday evening when I need to work. As my dad needs to go back to work. We just went out for breakfast then got home. From that time, I started to do the BS104 Computer Practical Assignment.
I did till around 3.30pm and was tired and bored from it (trying to key in what I understand from each component of the PDB file in word format) and decided to adventure a bit. I trial and error to make the water molecule. I didn't quite get it on the first attempt as I didn't know that the format I save can't be open. After trying to save in text format, I managed to get it in the just that there is an additional cross in my molecule. After amending again, I got it! So happy! It's aren't that difficult after all.
At first I thought I'll leave the final explanation of the PDB file and figuring out the amino acids in the peptide that we were given to another day but since there was some time, I thought I took a look and realized that I figured out pretty fast so I finished that part also.
Today, went for the computer practical 2. My session is supposed to be on Friday but since I was already there for 2 hours lecture in the morning, it would be pretty silly to go home and go for the computer lab class on Friday at the risk of missing the staff bus.
Again, I do not understand the briefing. So I opened my water molecule to try and save in ball and stick model which I could not do so in PyMOL at home. There are a few girls sitting behind me. They saw my water molecule and started to ask me for help. I explained to them how I did. And at the same time consult them if they know what we are supposed to do for that practical. They were unsure too. But got a girl who saw what others did and she told me.
Still with doubts on what we were really expected to do, we managed to get hold of the 'lecturer' (not very sure what is his position) and try to get him to explain. After much questioning, I think I understand and it seemed to be rather simple. Unless I got my facts wrong. Hopefully not. Anyway, here's my water molecule.
